One Community Bank Donates $25,000 to UnityPoint Health – Meriter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

One Community Bank is proud to announce a $25,000 donation to UnityPoint Health – Meriter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP). This donation will support several important initiatives, including therapy programs as well as the creation of a new sport court which is set to open in 2025.

The donation will play a pivotal role in enhancing the care provided to children and adolescents in the Intensive Outpatient Services program at UnityPoint Health – Meriter CAP. One of the key elements of this donation is the expansion of an outdoor therapy area. This includes the creation of a new sport court. It will provide a unique opportunity for tweens and teens to engage in physical activity and sports, while promoting healing and enjoyment through movement.

“OCB is proud to support UnityPoint Health – Meriter CAP in their efforts to offer more comprehensive and accessible care to children and adolescents in our community,” said Steve Peotter, President and CEO of One Community Bank. “By funding initiatives like therapy programs and the creation of a new sport court, we hope to provide meaningful opportunities for healing, growth, and enjoyment. We look forward to seeing the positive impact the new sport court will have on the patients and their families.”

“At CAP, treatment goes beyond medication and psychotherapy to include experiential therapies that reinforce the importance of movement, healthy sleep habits, community building, nutrition and family support and education. The support of donors like One Community Bank empowers CAP’s caregivers to show children that mental health treatment can be a hopeful and healing journey toward wellness,” said Dr. Katie Schmitt, Medical Director at CAP.
