One Community Bank Donates $20,000 to Support Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Services in South Central Wisconsin
One Community Bank is proud to continue investing in our communities. OCB recently donated $20,000 to support vital mental health services at UnityPoint Health – Meriter’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatry program (CAP).
One Community Bank was the lead sponsor of the Meriter Foundation Pro/Am Golf Classic in 2021 and 2022; the event was cancelled this year due to Excessive Heat Warnings issued by the National Weather Service, however the OCB team still provided its generous donation to support the work being done at CAP.
“One Community Bank colleagues are incredibly proud to support the ongoing efforts that Dr. Katherine Schmitt and her team at Meriter Child & Adolescent Psychiatry provide for the youth and their families in our community. OCB is committed to investing in our communities and Dr. Katie’s powerful mission aligns with One Community Bank’s values,” said President and CEO of One Community Bank, Steve Peotter.
This donation will provide caregivers at CAP with the additional resources necessary to address individual needs of every patient who enters their care — so they can uniquely meet each patient where they’re at.
This can include:
• Tools to promote self-expression and self-calming behaviors like healing gardens, music in patient rooms, art kids and safe kits.
• Enhancements to care units that keep care providers and young patients safe
• Facility artwork, which helps to create a warm and comforting space
• Potential expansions to the CAP facility — so no child or family is turned away from the care they need.
“After these past few difficult years, this is a particularly critical time for kids in our community. Every single day, children and their families turn to us at CAP for hope, healing and compassionate mental health care,” said Dr. Katie Schmitt, Medical Director at CAP. “One Community Bank responded, without hesitation, to the heightened mental health troubles children are facing. I’m incredibly proud to partner with our friends at OCB, who continue to show their commitment to sustaining this vital resource for kiddos in our community.”
