I chose OCB for my internship because I wanted to get a better sense of what careers I could pursue related to my Economics degree.
- What is your favorite part of being an OCB intern?
The people who work at OCB are wonderful. I’ve gotten to meet with different departments to hear about all the various roles people play in the bank. Everyone has been incredibly generous with their time and expertise. The CCC team works on the same floor as the Special Projects interns, and they have included us in their activities, like the monthly potluck and going on an axe throwing outing.
- What current fact about your life would most impress your five-year-old self?
This is unrelated to banking, but my five-year-old self would be pretty impressed by my musical skills. I have been playing piano, singing, and dancing since then, and the younger me would be excited by the progress that can be made in fifteen years.
- What’s a piece of wisdom that’s been shared with you by an employer, colleague, or peer?
“Data can speak volumes, but it can also speak the wrong volumes.” One of the members of the data reporting team said this when we met with them to talk about what they do, and it stuck with me because they really emphasized the importance of getting accurate data and interpreting it correctly in order to make good decisions. They also mentioned that sometimes it is better to not share everything you find out because your audience may not have the time or background to be able to understand it fully.

I am currently reading The Wysteria Society for Lady Scoundrels, which is about Victorian upper-class pirates with flying houses.
